Dumpsters and Recycling for Ponte Vedra Retirement Community Renovation in Jacksonville

Sunshine Recycling of Jacksonville is currently providing dumpsters and recycling for a large-scale renovation project in the prestigious Ponte Vedra neighborhood at Vicar’s Landing, a luxury retirement community.

The 24-acre campus provides residents with much more than just housing. Priding themselves on nurturing community involvement and wellness, Vicar’s Landing offers residents a wide variety of recreational, educational and social opportunities. They have one and two bedroom apartments, as well as single-story Canterbury homes. Within the campus, they have three restaurants and various amenities, such as a pool, a fitness center, a yoga studio, a hair salon, banking services and an art studio. They host social and educational events and offer several off-campus trips each month.

In an effort to invigorate the community and improve the overall experience for current and future residents, Vicar’s Landing is currently undergoing a $16 million construction and renovation project. A new 22,000 square foot clubhouse is being built. This will be known as the West Clubhouse, which will house a new fitness facility, an aerobics studio, classroom and social spaces, as well as a 300-seat auditorium. Nine of the apartment buildings and the Canterbury homes are getting cosmetic upgrades, including new siding and windows. The project broke ground in January 2014 and is projected to be completed by the end of 2015.

New Walmart Shopping Center Comes to Jacksonville


On Collins Road near Interstate 295, there will soon be a new shopping center for locals to purchase affordable merchandise and groceries. In the next few weeks, construction will begin on a new Walmart Supercenter. In addition to the retail opportunities, this will also create approximately 300 jobs for the local community, many of which will be full-time positions. The general contractor for the project is International Contractors, a family-owned and operated construction contracting business based out of Elmhurst, Illinois.

45 acres of land were purchased for the shopping center development. Once completed, the Walmart will be approximately 145,000 square feet in size. A Walmart Supercenter not only stocks non-perishable consumer goods, but also a full-service grocery including a meat counter and bakery. Frequently, Supercenters will also house eyecare centers, portrait studios, tax services or any number of  other small businesses. In addition to the Walmart location, there will eventually be a gas station and six additional retail establishments or restaurants. In total, the project is predicted to cost 7.8 million dollars, and to be completed in March, 2016.
